Letter: All are invited to waterfront gathering

To the editor:

Forwarded in a Motion of Comity, a "to-do" reminder: Do come to Newburyport's Market Square on Friday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. (directly following the Chamber of Commerce concert at Market Landing Park which begins at 6 p.m.) to gather among friends, family, community and Among Criminals, a band whose reggae-infused rhythms will awaken the Spirit of Community.

At this former site of "ye Waterside Parish Meetinghouse" which was dismantled on September 28, 1801 - the property and adjacent lot thereafter deeded to the Waterside community of Newburyport as a public way and meeting place "forever" - many evangelists have used this open public forum to spread their word, and many good conversations and friendships have been ventured and gained. May it ever be thus and so.

In light of this history and "history in the making" - under the light of the Full Buck Moon - Among Criminals will entertain and enlighten a gathering of (and for) all ages. It is no wonder that Among Criminals develop a following wherever they go. Delivered with a unique fusion of musical genres, their profound message will surely resonate in this "port of call" for moons to come.

This event would be worth your while for its pure entertainment value alone. But it is destined to be a golden opportunity to fill the Heart of Community on the eve of the 50th Yankee Homecoming festival - when all generations of the Waterside people (whether born here or drawn here to this special place, for a time, a lifetime or a pastime) come home again.
