Tidings (forwarded in a Motion of Comity) to coincide with the changing tides (low tide at 1:54PM) under the waxing Sturgeon Moon which will rise at 3:57PM) this afternoon. Will attempt to shed more light at "all matters and things" at that time --- if there is a moment to spare before getting out and about. Otherwise, Comity (so called) may well post and posit some "words to the wise" after this evening's "meeting of the minds" of the Newburyport Redevelopment Authority (NRA) and the Mayor and Office of Planning and Development staff (RE discourse and a course of action to implement downtown paid parking). [NOTE: Refer the article in today's issue of the Newburyport Daily News at this hyperlink.] Given decisions to reach before the NRA's next regular meeting held Wed 8/25 (which happens to fall on the Full Sturgeon Moon). Until then ... FYI, more about the Waterside "Gam & Jam" mentioned in the above post (posted and posited with the New Sturgeon Moon) can be found at this Virtual Wolfe Tavern message thread at this hyperlink ---And in case the kind and keen reader missed the print or online version of the related "conversation piece" published as a Viewpoint column in the Newburyport Daily News on Mon 8/16 --- we urge you to SMILE (Seek More Information Logged/linked Electronically) about "this and that" at this Comity.org hyperlink.

****** POSTED & POSITED ******Tidings ~ forwarded in a Motion of Comity ~ with the New Buck Moon, waxing at 1% visibility ~ posted and posited to coincide with its setting at 9:32PM on the evening of Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Last evening, with the New Buck Moon, the Newburyport Waterfront Trust approved Comity's application for use of Market Landing Park for the Waterside "jam and gam" ~ a gathering amongst friends, family and community to be held on Sunday, August 22.[Editor's Note: Plans are to gather momentum for the Newburyport Labor Day Weekend Festival ~ when and where more "jamming and gamming" takes place amidst the music and merriment ~ entertainment and enlightenment. (The former an ongoing show staged in Market Square and Market Landing Park, the former showcasing the "labors of love" by the Waterside community's myriad non-profit organizations).
It was (tentatively planned that the Sunday, August 22 event wouldl be in concert (and conversation) with the Philly- based band Among Criminals venturing up to the New England region that weekend to do a show at the Great Bay Music Festival on Saturday, August 21. Additionally, overtures were made to some local (multi-generation) talent to join the Waterside RE-generation "jam and gam."]A Comity.org webpage will be posted by the Full Buck Moon (July 26 - 27) when the "game plan" for the gam is well underway. And check back for plans to bring momentum during the Yankee Homecoming, with a RE:generation of the spirit during the Yankee Homecoming waterfront concerts on Monday, July 27 (Compaq Band) and Thursday, July 29 (Beatlejuice).****** POTENTIAL & POTENT (PROPONENTS) ******
With low tide at 7:23Pm last evening, seems a rising tide lifts all boats. Because the NWT not only approved Comity's application for the Waterside "jam and gam" held August 22 ~ but also approved the application for use submitted for the Newburyport Labor Day festival. And at a tandem City Council meeting, councillors voted to approve use of Market Square for that Labor Day weekend event.
Plus ~ and this is a huge plus ~ an application made by Stellwagen to allow them to amplify their music when performing in the Newburyport Waterfront Trust public spaces (boardwalk, park) was approved by the trustees, as well. Stay tuned for more about this potential and potent "synergy" along the Waterside.
More anon re "this and that" ~ with a new thread started as things unfold (and enfold).

(Appropriating) Ralph Waldo Emerson (most appropriate) quote that:
“Music takes us out of the actual and whispers to us dim secrets that startle our wonder as to who we are, and for what, whence, and whereto.”
And duly noting that Emerson was also known to have said: "I hate quotations, tell me what you know" ...
How can we here in the Waterside let the honorable Jurist come to know the import (and good sense) of a just ruling in favor of the DEP's motion to take full control of the financial assurance mechanism ("FAM") for completing closure of the Crow Lane landfill?
Perhaps he should be persuaded to come to port, to the Crow Lane landfill and just ...
(to lift lines from Among Criminals' "Thin Lines") ...
Who really knows our sense? Take a deep breath, Let me know!
Other than that journey by the Jurist --- let us just hope and pray for resolution.

Tidings --- forwarded with the rising tide of the River Merrimack [NOTE: High tide (7.5 ft) at 5:54PM]. Posted (and posited) in tandem with comments submitted to the Port Reporter Unlimited blog.Given the most recent communication from a certain “party” whose regularly distributed communications provides updates about the day-to-day trials and tribulations and political/legal status/strategy concerning the Crow Lane landfill situation to a broad distribution list of "interested parties." To wit, the most recent communication (with attachment) sent on the evening of Tuesday, April 20, 2010 reads: The attached notice dated April 17 seems to notify New Ventures that Mass DEP is seeking full control of the financial assurance mechanism ("FAM") for completing closure of the landfill. It also says New Ventures must provide enough money in the FAM for closure and post-closure requirements. As Comity shall duly (and dually) comment to the Tuesday, 4/20/10 blog post at Port Reporter Unlimited --- NOTE: See blog search results for (Crow Lane) "landfill" at this hyperlink. When conversing with Councillor Brian Derrivan on Monday, 3/29 about the pending court decision regarding DEP's motion to access the Crow Lane landfill for emergency repairs to the FML (flexible membrane liner) and wells ---
Had mentioned two songs to which one (as two of the Comity) was listening (incessantly) --- hoping that the "positive vibes" would propel a positive resolution:
• Among Criminals’ “Thin Lines” (NOTE: Third MP3 track at http://www.myspace.com/amongcriminals) • State Radio’s “Calling All Crows” (NOTE: Second MP3 track at http://www.myspace.com/stateradio)
And as mentioned in subsequent phone conversation --- particularly given the relevance/revelation of the “thin lines” of the "parsed" court decision --- wanted to deploy the song when posting/positing an update about the matter of Crow Lane Landfill to the Virtual Wolfe Tavern --- Hoping to prompt further discourse and a "reasonable" course for addressing this issue in the “court of public opinion” --- both on (web)page (blogs and such) and (perhaps) “stage” --- NOTE: Particularly given the overlap of Earth Day(s) http://www.earthday.org/earthday2010 and Global Youth Services Day(s) http://gysd.org --- noting Newburyport Eco Collaborative calendar at http://www.ecocollaborative.org/earth-day-2010-calendar. (*) ****** FOOTNOTE ****** * In correspondence with the NEC re posting something which may come together rather serendipitously on the weekend of 4/24 – 4/25 --- having revisited this with Councillor Derrivan (before the 4/12 [City Council] meeting) and Councillor Jones (after that 4/12 meeting) --- hope springs eternal.
